Our mission is to provide safe, dignified affordable housing and comprehensive support services to formerly homeless individuals and families.

Established in 1998 by a group of concerned southern Maine and seacoast New Hampshire citizens, Fair Tide opened its Transitional Housing Program to participants in May 2000. Fair Tide guides its participants toward self-sufficiency through individualized support, community referrals, and advocacy. Fair Tide's housing is located in downtown Kittery, Maine. Fair Tide also operates a Thrift Store in Kittery, for the purpose of funding the Transitional Housing Program. This grassroots organization continues to rely on community support and involvement, and in turn provides the community with productive and active citizens.

Our History:

Fair Tide was founded in 1998 by local community members concerned for their neighbors, family, and friends who were homeless or living in temporary or substandard housing. Funds were raised to renovate a run down apartment building in downtown Kittery, and in May of 2002, Fair Tide accepted the first group of participants. In January 2003, the Fair Tide Thrift Store was established at 200 State Road in Kittery, providing a source of revenue for the program, in addition to low-cost clothing and furnishings for the community. In the fall of 2006, the Thrift Store moved to its current location at 15 State Road, Kittery.
