The mission of Fair Tide is to provide short-term affordable housing in a safe dignified setting for people who are homeless. With the help of the community, Fair Tide will provide advocacy, support and referrals to assist residents in their move toward permanent housing, financial stability and self-sufficiency.
Fair Tide envisions a time when no one is homeless. We all deserve to live in a home with the skills necessary to maintain a quality lifestyle and contribute to the community. With self-respect and respect for others we are healthy, contributing members of society. We should work towards community, economic and environmental sustainability.
The Fair Tide Thrift Store is a community resource for recycling, job training and volunteerism. Our community is strengthened and enriched by caring for one another. Participants qualifying for our program are low-income individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless and who are motivated and ready to change their lives. Participants accepted into our program reside at a beautifully renovated, energy-conserving 5-unit apartment building with a resource library, flower and vegetable gardens, and a safe, secure children’s play area.
The Fair Tide Transitional Housing Program is unique from other low-income housing. We are not just housing. We support participants in their move towards self-sufficiency in both formal and informal ways by providing 1-on-1 case management, resident association meetings, life enrichment programming, connecting to the community as volunteers, and a stable, safe living environment. Fair Tide believes that in two years, individuals and families can move from surviving to thriving by focusing on four essential skill areas: accountability, financial stability, emotional health and future planning.
