For the past five years a group of employees from GreenPages, a technology solutions company based in Kittery, Maine, have dressed in brightly colored United Way shirts and marched their way to Fair Tide ready for a day of volunteer work for United Way’s Day of Caring.  Each year in mid-September over 700 employees from various regional businesses spend the day rolling up their sleeves and giving back to the community.  In 2017, these volunteers donated over $100,000 in free labor and services!

On this year’s Day of Caring the GreenPages employees helped out with a plethora of tasks put forth by Fair Tide. From lugging bags of clothing out of storage and into the Thrift Store to helping repaint two large display fixtures, the Green Pages team worked nonstop to get the store ready for winter inventory. Kristen Michaud the Sales Representative at GreenPages shares, “We enjoy working as a team of folks who may not normally work together in the office in order to better the community. We are able to get outside, socialize with local businesses, and actually make a difference.”

GreenPages, however, doesn’t just limit their volunteer work to that one day. The company’s charitable mission is centered around providing basic needs to the local community such as food, shelter, heat, and clothing. The GreenPages Charitable Committee helps with six local non-profits around the seacoast area. “Every year employees group together to host charitable events,” Kristen explains.  Some fun and interactive activities they have hosted are chili cook offs, weight loss challenges, and office mini golf. Kristen also shared that during the holidays GreenPages reaches out to four local organizations and provides gifts for their adolescent residents.

This charitable focus at GreenPages is greatly appreciated by Fair Tide who relies heavily on volunteers and support from local businesses. Thanks to the generosity of the community Fair Tide has been able to increase thrift store sales and double the number of households on our caseload this year!  Thank you GreenPages for all you have done and continue to do for Fair Tide!  See you at the next Day of Caring!
